2009/2010 Football Season

#1 Post by Nabeshin » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:07 pm

I thought perhaps it was time to start a thread for the new season. Mostly because the champions league qualifiers was on today. Bohs got a 1-1 away draw against Red Bull Salzburg, which sets them up nicely for the return leg at Dalymount.

Anyway anything to do with the new soccer season I guess can go in here, be it the preseason friendlys, transfer news/rumours, internationals, etc...

HELL YEAH, OLD MAN! :OG: :OG: :OG: :OG:

On-topic: Stewart Downing? You mean we're replacing Gareth Barry with a younger version of Gareth Barry for the same amount of money we sold Gareth Barry?

Some thoughts that could be Downing for Young.

Young's going nowhere - except onto the right wing. (Milner will most likely move into the middle alongside Petrov.)

I was watching the Shamrock Rovers-Real Madrid match. The Hoops lost 1-0.

Will all the hype over the debut of Ronaldo it was Benzema who was the best player on the pitch. The Hoops gave a good show of themselves having a few chances, it's just a shame they lost. It's also slightly depressing that it'll most likely have highest attendance of any non-international game in the country this year, while only being a friendly.

Bohs are out of Europe thanks to a moment woeful defending by Mark Rossiter late in the game. The team looked tired. Last Sundays game against Derry should've been postponed to give the team more time to recuperate, but since the LoI and FAI run the game here, common sense doesn't seem to apply.
Worst thing is that loosing the match tonight could affect Bohs financial woes horribly. Rumours of relegation at the end of the season because of what’s going on in the club.

God being a Irish football fan is depressing.

P.S. Fuck RTE for not showing the game on TV. I'd say they're delighted Bohs are out because of possible clashes with Arsenal/Chelsea/Celtic matches.

Villa's new home kit is pointless. Exactly the chuffing same as last seasons.

I'm not finished with last season's shirt, though. I think I still have a few seasons worth of wear left in this 'un.

Once fans joked about Man Utd changing their kit so often. Now they all do it.
Think Spurs have stuck a go faster yellow stripe down the sides and nothing else.

But have any of the other teams turned invisible when wearing their kits like United did? :P

One of few people in football, or sport, who actually deserves the Sir in front of his name.
