Yep, it was released yesterday. Official homepage. There's 2.5million downloads available, so I'm not sure how long until it runs out. Also the beta will end on 1 Aug 09, and you'll need to do a clean install to continue using the computer. It's all on the site.

Also it turns out there is a 64bit version available. If only I had a spare HDD laying around :shifty: .

Spare HDDs are not a problem. I will have to wait until monday though and use the office connection. Sky may think I'm taking the piss if I download a gig or two in one night.

How big is it? I can't see anywhere on the site that tell you.

You need to use IE to access the download, otherwise it just shows that silly green loading swirl. You then have to log in to Windows Live, fill in some details, verify email and then you can begin downloading. The 64bit version that I clicked on is 3.15GB.

I'm pretty sure there are many people downloading over 2 gig a night, kodama. So if you did it just the one night I'd say they would barely notice.

Maybe so, but I have a 2Gig a month limit. :D Now I know it's not enforced, many hours of online anime viewing prove that but I don't want to incur any wrath 8)

The 32bit version is 2.44gig. I'm glad I waited, far better to download at 600KB/sec than 200 :D

So you're thinking Sky would think you're ripping the piss to be downloading that much, but you don't think work will think you're ripping the piss?

That you should give yourself a very stern talking to, then lock yourself up for talking to yourself. :P

Pffft, I'd only ignore myself.

Windows 7 is safely burnt to a DVD and I may just try it sometime this week. After getting stung by Vista, I don't want to get caught out again.

See, even you've learned not to listen to you. :P

What are the odds that a lot of the downloads are hackers trying to get it to work past August?

Well bugger me, it actually works.

Word of warning though, make sure you have drivers for everything, just in case.
