iPod Help

#1 Post by Captain Kuchiki » Tue Nov 04, 2008 10:50 pm

Hey, I'm having some troubles with my 3rd Generation iPod Nano and was wondering if anyone could help me.

Okay, the problem is...it's frozen. Won't turn off, won't realise when I lock it, won't do anything, but the backlight is still on and it still thinks it's 6:11pm. I've been on apple's website all evening, and every bit of advice on there, fails, so matter how many times I try, I have also tried uninstalling then re-installing iTunes, but nothing has worked. I've asked my Mum, and she can't find the insurance papers - which most likely means they're at a landfill site because last time I needed them I went into town with my brother....who later threw his bag away forgetting to take them out.

So yeah, I'm screwed...and need advice.

I've tried resetting it, but whenever I connect my iPod, it says it's corrupt or damaged, then just forgets it exists, so I can't reset.

So when you do this nothing happens?

# 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
# 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Try this maybe.

tried both again, and nothing....still stuck on that one screen, thinking it's 6:11pm.

Btw, it messed up shortly after I downloaded the latest version of iTunes........

If nothing resets it, you'll just have to wait for the battery to go flat and then see if it comes back to life with a recharge. So leave it disconnected and let it go flat.

You might get lucky. Otherwise take it to the Apple store, there's one in Cambridge and they should help if it's under a year old if you ask nicely.

Yeah there is....I've calculated that with my college timetable the earliest I can go there is Friday though....luckily it's right near the Bus Station.

EDIT: Arigatou Gozaimasu Kodama-san!
I left my iPod over night, and it died. Put it in the charger, and it's working fine now!

Maybe you should have a "kodama's computer help corner" thread? :D
