Official Euro 2008 Discussion Thread

#1 Post by Roostophe » Sat Jun 07, 2008 9:02 pm

Yes, yes. None of the home nations have qualified, but that doesn't mean we football fans can't enjoy it for what is is: football. :)

Let's just sit back and watch a football tournament. It might be good, who knows.

I did just watch the 1st half of Portugal V Turkey. It wasn't too bad, a fair bit of end-to-end attacks, a number of attacks on the break etc.

Anybody supporting a team? I'm not, I'm just going to remain neutral. Although my family are supporting Netherlands because of A) Wilfred Bouma and B) Because we're certain of having Dutch heritage.

Not sure about supporting anyone yet. See how it goes. I did take to Italy at the World Cup (after our early exit) simply because Gattuso looks like some mad barbarian midget.

Early games are never that great so may take until the knock out stages to really grab me.
Hmmm, just thought. Who are the teams involved? Don't know the whole list.

Group C is a nasty one. Guess that's the Group of Death! as there is always one.

Reckon Germany will move to the next stage. Doesn't look that hard a group, although Poland might give them a kicking.

Can't stand Portugal. One of the worst for play acting.

I'm backing Spain to win.

Portugal played well should have won by more and Nani is lucky to still have both legs intact.

Yeah me too feel sorry for switzerland as well as Frei leading national goal scorer out for the tournament as well as a defeat to boot, not a very good day for the swiss all in all.

I watched the Germany V Poland match. It was pretty entertaining, although both teams could have been better.

I'm going to edit my first post so it includes the group standings and all the info. JSYK.

EDIT: That's bin dun.
