I know she's cherry picking, but there are a lot of hardware projects, just look through the front page of their official site.

Gulp, just brought the bits for a half decent PC for the first time in about 15 years. Been living on customer hand me downs for ages.

Corsair Carbide 300R Case
Intel Core i5 4670 3.40GHz Socket 1150 6MB Cache
Asus Z87-K Socket 1150
Kingston 120GB SSDNow V300 SSD SATA
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional 64 Bit Dvd

Bugger, I missed the RAM off the order.

I know, W8.1 but as IT is my business, I need to keep up and frankly I'm also sick installing the best part of 100 updates to W7. :)

Heh, 8GB of ordered.

Under that primary coloured bullshit and Duplo graphics is the beating heart of decent OS.

And 8.1 has right click to shut down and boot to desktop.

Yay, new PC up and running, including Hyper-V so I can also boot to my old W7 machine if I miss it. :ugeek:

New SSD installed, RAM upgrade and Windows 8.1 installed. Think that'll do for the tinkering for a while.

Now to see how long it takes to get used to 8.1. Already taking a dislike to the apps screen

Old HDD is still in there so still need to check that on boot but from login screen to fully loaded takes a second or 2 instead of still loading background tasks while I'm trying to start open a browser. And Yeah I have it loading to desktop. Just used to the start menu when clicking the start button.

I think it's too fast now. Have to sometimes reload webpages a couple times before they load properly for some reason.

Huh, prioritise the SSD in the bios or do you mean you haven't cloned the HDD onto the SSD. I use the spinning rust for all the bulky storage, non of the boot files are on it.

Windows + X is your friend, although you do have to zip over to Modern if you can't remember the name or haven't got a shortcut on the desktop.

Zap the browser and reinstall it or just clear the temp files etc.
