That was before you commented on baseball.

Also, football is so misunderstood, it is a great game for gals.

I could probably watch and enjoy American Football if it weren't for all the bloody timeouts, ref discussions and general fannying about that makes it into a tediously long and drawn out game.

Best not get started on American Football ( ) then, wusses in body armour etc blah blah blah... :el:

I thought the copious amount of breaks/timeouts was because they can't concentrate any longer?

American Football...do not get me started...I tried to like it but I just couldn't.

Baseball is as boring as cricket.

Basketball, aka the only popular sport in the US that the Yanks themselves invented, is rather good. I have to say. :)

Well, that's my tuppence. 8)

Ooh since I'm mod here can I got thorugh all Nicole's posts and make them say baseball and American football are boring? :D

Nah but seriously, I remember being told that baskeball is the least popular of the 3 main sports. Why is it that the only 1 of them that actually lasts the duration it's meant to last is considered the least favourite?

Duration of an American football is 1 hour, isn't it? Yet it lasts for 3 or 4 hours.
Baseball looks like a short enough game when used in movies and tv but I've heard it can last 9+ hours.

Basketball is the only US sport that's actually made an impact and is played professionally over here, the problem with Baseball is that as has been said it's effectively just a more complicated version of rounders, and nobody plays that past their school years. Furthermore we already have cricket, and I think that one drawn-out batting game is probably enough for this country.

The biggest problem with American Football is practicality. While kids here can play regular football with nothing but a ball (of any kind) and something to hit it between or against, AF requires alot of bulky and expensive equipment, not exactly realistic for a quick game after school.

Finally, we already have football, rugby, cricket, basketball etc. I really don't think that a country of this size can accommodate any more sports.

While I've never heard of a 9+ hour game (that would involve alot of extra innings) I can vouch that they do last for last for quite awhile (I had a job where I'd often get home at 1 in the morning and the only thing on would be baseball).
