Ghibli Blurays...

#1 Post by Project-2501 » Tue Apr 12, 2011 10:48 pm

Hmm... what are Optimum up to... Nausicaa came out in a single disc bluray only release yet they are releasing Laputa and Yamadas in twin disc packs with the bluray AND DVD.

WHY?

I have the DVDs, I don't need more. And its put the price up. :el:

That can be applied to all BDs, I really don't need a DVD or digital copy, so I'd much rather be able to buy a BD only copy. And frankly most of the time I don't even have that much interest in the extras.

Maybe they think Nuasicaa is a strong seller, whereas the other two need a bit more to encourage sales.

Yeah, it could encourage them. Since there are people who plan on getting a blu ray player in future but want a dvd now so figure kill 2 birds with one stone. I know when I bought the last Harry Potter on dvd, I was going to buy the Blu Ray with dvd since I was planning on getting the PS3. Actually now I don't know why I didn't.

Another slightly random thought is, why the hell would you want MNTY on BD, it'd only emphasise how "different" it looks to all the other Ghiblis. :)
