FFS. The internet a human right! Yeah, it's just as important as freedom of speech, the right to have a fair trail, and basic liberty etc....

Its funny how people quote freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of information.

Surely as a creator you also have freedom of control?

Freedom of information was suppoed to allow you access to information about you or that directly affects you. It doesn't extend to downloading ep eleventy billion of the latest filler arc of bleuch for free. Certainly it never mentions 'freedom of information' meaning the information can be obtained 'free from cost'.

The DPA allows a charge to be placed on information retreval.

Wait what?!

You've actually seen/heard someone justifying in leaching Bleach using freedom of information as the basis for their actions.

Wow, just wow.

Bleuch was just an example, but I've seen people claim freedom of expression and information as reasons why its OK.

I admit I like the ideal of it as a right - the right to talk to people around the world, learn what's going on, not rely on governments and media for information, etc.
But it seems less a debate of right and more a case of means.
We'd all have it if we could (although still seems plenty out there who do well without), especially for free.

Although in answer to the second question, absolutely not.

"We have entered the knowledge society and everyone must have access to participate."

The problem with this statement is most on the net seem to be morons, or just enjoy behaving like them. I've also seen lots of examples of people using free speech and information just to win an arguement. :el:

Like I said, a nice ideal to have.

Oh, and CloudVivi's flounce still amuses me too.
