Lemmings! Let's Go!

Yeah, I know I've said it before, but I think I only ever watched 1 episode of Animals of Farthing Wood. No real reason other than I kept missing it, but the one ep I saw had the hedgehogs getting killed. I remember thinking "Ok this is nearly leaving me in shock and I haven't even got attached to the characters". I wondered what impact it would have on kids watching the show. I was expecting the hedgehogs to make it across the road.

There was a movie when I was a kid that is very similar to this farthing wood. It had much the same idea, woodland animals trying to survive when their home is being destroyed by outside human forces. It is a powerful theme that seems to ring very strong with children.

Watership Down? Ferngully?

I think the severest animated movie I've seen was Plague Dogs. Now that's depressing. Great, but depressing

Watership Down was nice and nasty too. When watching as a kid and seeing rabbits fight and kill and bleed was pretty shocking, when used to the nice clean action of He-Man and the A-Team.

Not sure if they did a movie version of Farthing Wood.

I think Ophelia was taling about Fern Gully. I love that film! Set the groundwork for a lot of films of the age, but was also the last film that was really properly disturbing...
