How so? What's missing this time around? I haven't got to read any comparisons yet since most of the sites that would have them are blocked at work

Can't install your own OS (which will anger about the 4 Linux users) and from what I can tell you can no longer install your own hard drive, although I could be wrong on that point. Its also all the little cosmetic things, cheap plastic, no chrome trim, no painted PS3 logos, the touch sensitive buttons are gone too.

Apparently you can install the hard drive. One comment I liked that I read somewhere was when it said they got rid of the Spiderman logo. :)

:ches: Guild Wars 2 news. :ches:

I can't wait for this game to come out now. Too bad it will be about 2010/2011 before it's released.

The rest of the news I couldn't care less about :( .

Apparently the new PS3 Slim doesn't stand upright by itself either and requires a stand. Which doesn't come in the box. And costs about $24.

THESE ARE THE GOOD TIMES PEOPLE!

In all honesty, the whole upright console thing isn't really that great. The PS2 never really liked reading CD games when it was upright and my 360 would probably catch fire if I tried to stand it on end.

Since the bulky PS3's are probably going to come down in price come September I'm probably more likely to pick up one of those chunky fellas rather than a slim. Especially if people are going to start trading their first generation PS3's in for slims.

Sony have always known how to screw the very last penny out of their customers :thumb:

The bulky PS3s are down in price from yesterday. So they're the same price now that the Slim will be when it's released.

Okay, so...I have NEVER had either of those problems.

Those two sonofabitches of mine have been upright since the day I got them. They're still "a'ight", as the street gangsters would say, what what.

Well, I exaggerate slightly of course. From my experience PS2's always had a massive problem with reading CDs (blue discs) as they got older and keeping them horizontal always seemed to help them read the discs better. Call it a psychological thing but, damnit, I'm sure it worked. Enki and I seem to be lucky in as much as we're only on our third (I think) PS2 since launch. The less said about the myriad faults of the 360 the better though...

Vaguely on topic, the PS3 seems to have fared pretty well reliability wise with only a small number of YLOD and gimped BR drive problems. I'd certainly consider buying a second hand fat PS3, something I'd never do with a PS2 or a 360.

If you want to know, this is what a naked PS3 slim looks like.
