Yep, I knew the McGann one tied in okay. It was an attempt to relaunch the franchise that never worked. Strange how a lower budget BBC version worked though. :? Or maybe they didn't like the Americanisation of a British show.

I do think there was a lot of the old 'those americans have no idea of what they're doing, bah!' stuff from us Brits.
Funny thing is, I remember the Doctor kissing someone was a big deal then, but now, hey, he's rampant.

Mind you, as I understand it, the American SciFi channel, or whoever shows it over there, resisted doing so for sometime. They kept saying their audiences wouldn't get it. Now a big hit.

Is it not BBC America that show it? I assumed it was for obvious reasons. Yeah I remember some kinda uproar about him kissing his companion and like you said, though not as eloquently, he can't keep it in his pants now.

I thought it would be BBC America but I saw this on a thread:

It's amazing that the US Sci-Fi Channel is showing us new Who episodes only 7-14 days after the BBC broadcasts them! Well, it's amazing considering that Sci-Fi waited over TWO YEARS to show the first episode of the relaunch. I remember a quote from one of their executives about, "Americans just won't 'get' this show." I wonder if he still works there?

Maybe SCIFI is more available?

While I was over there I saw a poster advertising the latest season of Robin Hood on BBC America and thinking "Ha! Now they know how we feel being behind". Of course the fact that shows we wait on from them are better than Robin Hood (eg. Heroes) kinda made that a moot point.

I think it may have run on BBC America, but from what I've heard, most americans consider BBC A to be a minority cable channel. It's certainly nowhere as big as Sci-fi.

Mind you, isn't BSG on the SciFi channel over there, and doesn't it get poor ratings because it is a 'lesser' channel too?

But then again, the big networks do dominate something fierce, so anything else is 'lesser'.

Glad to see McCoy get some votes he doesn't get mentioned enough these days. I voted for Pertwee. Him with the Brig. Can't get much Classic then that.

Tom Baker gets my vote, he was my Doctor growing up although I do like Tennant.

While I'm here have you seen the new trailer for the end of the series?

I refuse to touch that spoiler.

And with that said, in the words of FT's Manwell "I Know nuhthing!"

Voted Tennant. Love the quick turn around of the Doctor's character. I remember Baker most in the classics, seconded by pertwee and McCoy
