Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe

By 'his' I take it you mean Brooker and not Joplin?

Yes, I actually enjoyed watching it. I am a zombie whore and will watch anything with them in, but it certainly beat most shows on tv.
If I'm not complaining about a programme, it simply means I don't care.

Yup CB.

The bloke who played Joplin was one of the few actors I recognised.

Same here. Kevin Eldon. Usually in comedy.
I'm certain that the producer was in Severance. The soft one nobody listened to.

Other than that, everyone was new, but for Davina and the old housemates.
Oh, did like the 'it's only Brian' bit.

He's better as a zombie than he was on BB.

I got to admit I was surprised at how good some of them were. Even Davina was really good at it.

Maybe being a zombie is just seriously easy. Make up, snarly face, weird noises, and you're done.

The producer fella (combined with the lackluster script) was probably the worst thing about Dead Set. His shouty swearing was entertaining for about half an episode but after that it got pretty tiresome. Yes, he's a thoroughly unpleasant bloke; you don't need to have him saying fuck every 5 minutes just to let me know, okay? His plan of baiting the zombies was excellently handled though. Desperately slicing corpses into chum has never been so much fun!
Prime Bbcode Spoiler Show Prime Bbcode Spoiler:
I saw his death (or more specifically the nature of it) coming a mile away mind. In the first episode Enki and I both went "Oh look, it's Rhodes from Day of the Dead." And come the last episode "Oh wow. He's exactly like Rhodes from Day of the Dead."

His actor was in Mark Gatiss' (sp?) Crooked House over christmas too and he pretty much ballsed up the first episode of that with his wooden acting.

My absolute favourite moment was Joplin's eerie lecherous shower scene. Anyone who's seen Jam knows that Kevin Eldon can play really nasty characters and his performance in Dead Set helped hammer that point home. Then again I love Kevin Eldon. I just wished he had more screen time in Dead Set.

Yup, that's exactly what I was reminded of - Choke on 'em! Choke on 'em!

Although Rhodes had more diversity, from psychotic bully to fleeing coward to defiant munchies.

I do wonder which came first, the character of Joplin or Eldon in the role. You need someone like him to make 'Gollum'.
Remember him from the 'Richard but not Judy' show, where he was known as the actor Kevin Eldon. Also remember his fine impersonation of Rod Hull.

Hmm, only got 1/2 way through this, a little too shrill. Yet another mock campaign too.

I thought Newswipe was excellent on the whole. That useless poetry man is still as unfunny as he was in Screenwipe and that university graduate, post-television studies Londonite woman was dire too so hopefully she won't bring down the quality of every episode.

The guy from Flat Earth news was excellent though. More from him please!

Did like her saying to someone when selling bottled water: It tastes of tears.

Found the forensic psychiatrist's views very intertesing.

Just seen the new one. Thought this was even better. No poetry or little girl bothering the public. One contributor and you know he was great because they had to cut bits out!

Thought he raised very good points on the change in the news and how emotive it has become, and thought he looked at the Jade thing pretty well. I do actually think he makes a great point about people feeling angry about the coverage (myself fully included) due to how the coverage was done.

I cannot fucking believe that done up photo though. :el:

Caught some of a new episode last night on tv and then found it today on the BBC site.

Good one. Liked the 'views' at the end of the show, thought provoking.
His take on Glen beck is spot on. Man's a fucking shit stirrer who acts crazy but I suspect is very self motivated.

NW is back. I just caught the end of it tonight and he was having a rant about the snow coverage.

Yeah I caught the end of it either last night or the night before. As usual, no idea when it is first on. Having read his article about the coverage, wasn't surprised he went at them.
