Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe

#1 Post by Old Git » Wed Nov 26, 2008 3:10 pm

I've only seen this on Youtube before, pointed out mainly by people on here, but watched last night's episode and loved it. Very caustic sense of humour, which is very me.

The Top Ten Cocks and She-cocks of Adverts was a fine line up indeed. Unfortunately I remember most of them the moment I saw the damn things come up.

People sat about playing with crisps are twats and deserve to be branded as such!

Anyway, a fine watch and would recommend to others who like snarking about tv.

Screenwipe is excellent. :D

Unfortunately I have nothing else to say, but I believe I've already said enough.

Wait he did the Top Ten Cocks & She-cocks of Advertising again? I missed last nights show but caught the one on last Sunday night.

Angry ranting, nitpicking at TV and a wicked sense of humour, what's there not to like. :D

I caught last week's one halfway at first and thought that was a real documnetary he was covering. I did realise the truth, but says a lot about tv that I thought a documentary about taking a piss was real.

Really liked the last one. The tribute at the end to Postgate was spot on. I don't care how old I get, will never forget the opening to Bagpuss. Those browned pictures, his voice, :wnw:

Unfortunately I also remember Mr Noseybonk. Fucking weirdo.

I'm really liking the structure for this series with the single subject focus for each episode. That godawful Christian children's show was astoundingly disturbing too. It was like watching Wondershowzen but with all the knowing sarcasm sucked out of it.

The Oliver Postgate obituary was absolutely marvelous. Bought a tear to my eye the minute that Ivor the Engine's trademark "voice" was mentioned.

The Christian Science one was very disturbing, although I did laugh my arse off when the ear fell off the puppet.

Having just watched Screenwipe review of the year, do you think it's a good thing that I've seen almost none of what featured :D

I know what you mean. I felt quite pleased with myself that I hadn't seen pretty much any of the programmes featured on the Review of the Year episode.

I still chuckle to myself about Beat the Kids though. Whoever commissioned that show must have had a sense of humour. Either that or be the most naive person in the entire universe.

Yes, I hadn't seen most either. Always better to see via the snark of someone like Brooker than to waste time watching it all.

Speaking of yearly reviews, really enjoyed Harry Hill's as well.
