Due to a rather crappy set of inflamed eyes, I have a backlog of films on my Sky HD box.

School or Rock
American Psycho
Team America World Police
Shaft (well this one hasn't been recorded yet ><)
This is England
Zaitoichi
The Descent

Any thoughts on the order in which I should watch them.

I have the feeling that The Descent may have to wait for a day when I'm feeling brave though

This is better than it was, I've waded through Tinman and Ashes to Ashes.

Maybe I'm just desensitized(sp?) thanks to watching loads of horrors but I didn't find The Descent scary.

Well the comedies are good if you just want something you can tuen your brain off for and can drop in and out of.

But for the more serious ones you want to be sure you'll be watching the film all in one sitting.

Thanks for the comprehensive review there SP, I'll watch it anyway. Are you sure you're not thinking of the american film that came out at the same time, with pretty much the same plot? The name escapes me.

Yup, The Cave.

I'd give Daylight a miss, Stallone cheese is the best you can say about it.

Matt Daaaaaaamon. Even I know that :shifty:

Watch American Psycho.
Read the book.
Watch it again.
Repeat.

You won't be sorry.

School or Rock
American Psycho
Team America World Police
Shaft (well this one hasn't been recorded yet ><)
This is England
Zaitoichi
The Descent

School of Rock is actually fun. Jack Black isn't really annoying, so it works well.
American Psycho is mad and violent and Bale is excellent in it.

Team America is one of my favourite comedies. I love every inch of that one. Even the song right at the end about how 'worthress Arec Barwin is'

I take it Shaft is the remake. That's ok. If there was one you didn't bother with, it would be that.

This is England I've only seen parts of, but looks seriously good.

Zatoichi is great. I'm a Kitano fan but this is one of his best. Superb fight scenes, and just one of the most vibrant endings. I love that one.

The Descent is one of the better horrors in recent times for me. It is by the same bloke who did Dog Soldiers, which is one of the other better horrors. You can sit and pick all the homages to other horrors for there are many, and you have actual characters in this, their intereaction is the main thing. Also, the ending is spot on. Gorey yes, but more to it.

If you were only going to watch three, Zatoichi, Descent and Team America are the ones I'd insist on.

I'd suggest watching things in this order:

Team America World Police - Start off with a bit o' comedy to get the brain nice and comfortable
This is England - Be shocked by it's greatness. Although putting it this high on the list might put you off watching anything else since it's so bloody excellent.
School of Rock - A little bit of light comedy to help with the comedown from This Is England.
American Psycho - Admire Christian Bale's fantastic arse. Then read the book.
Zatoichi - Not Kitano's best but a solid piece bit of work. Dancing and fighting = good times.
The Descent - It's not Dog Soldier's good but, by jove, it's still a great little horror film.
Shaft - Because it's all kinds of ace.

Buuuuut, if you're only going to watch a few I'd go for This Is England, Zatoichi, Shaft and The Descent. They're the pick of the bunch.

Oh dear, TAWP turned out to be another Anchorman.

I can see why it should be funny and I appreciate the effort that went into making it that cheesy.
I hardly laughed at all though. Some smiling and mild annoyance as I tried to figure out who the voice of INTELLIGENCE was.
