The highstreet is dead.

As if we didn't already know it.

With possibly HMV going down the tubes and in my town at least no a single other shop that sells the more obscure DVDs and BDs.

Can I prove it, yep.

In a sad and possibly wasted attempt to help HMW/Waterstones survive, I occasionally try and buy stuff from them on the highstreet. In this case, the BD of Summer Wars/TGWLTT. I popped in on Monday (got skinned £2 for 1/2 hr parking) and HMV didn't have either BD version, only the DVD version. I asked them and they said it hadn't been delivered. :el: Didn't bother to order it but did find the price £24 O.O
I then wandered in today and they'd sold out. "Did I want to order it", if I wanted to order it, I'd bloody well brought it off the internet. Ho hum, you can't help some people. I had a look round to see if anywhere else might stock it and no chance, good grief there's hardly anywhere on our highstreet where you can even buy the chart DVDs nevermind something more obscure. :el:

Yeah HMV prices don't help either. They should realise the competition online and drop the prices. They used to have more offers on when they had Zavvi/Virgin as competition. Sure the only place I can get dvds around here is Xtravision and Tesco. Unless I go to Derry where I can choose between HMV and....ummm.... Yeah I have to go a bit away from the main shopping area to get anywhere which would be Xtravision, Sainsburys, ASDA or Tesco. Only dvd places around HMV are CEX and Cashmaker.

We do have a Cex, which I might get FMA Brotherhood vol 1 BD as a curiosity. Other than that it's superstores, which won't carry them due to Manga etc not willing to make a loss on every disc and Blockbuster which didn't have it.

Meh. I've spent nearly a year trying to find vol. 3 of GitS SAC, and nowhere has it. Not HMV, not the Zavvi (when it still existed), not HMV. They all have loads of copies of vol. 2. They can all go to hell for all I care. [/facetiousness]

Try Cex, I see a few SACs at times.
