A very female rant! (males enter at your own risk)

#1 Post by tachikoma » Sun Jul 06, 2008 8:31 pm

[rant] Ooook I'm laid up on the sofa yesterday, cos I've been puking my guts up, and turn on the tv in need of some distraction. And an ad comes on for sanitary pads with the slogan
"Have a happy period".
I stared at the screen in disbelief for a moment!Thought 'die you f**kers' rolled my eyes in disgust and decided to go back to sleep.

Today the ad comes on again and it turns out these advertising geniuses have put the same slogan on the backing strip on the pads. So we can see this little message every time we need one.

First of all I know this little gem was created by a man, because no woman would be so condescending, she knows what it's like having to endure it every month.
So nice to hear you guys want us to be happy while our boobs ache, our stomaches cramp and our emotions have more ups and downs than a roller-coaster.

You know what would be more supportive at that time, actually supplying the stuff for free instead of making us pay ever increasing prices for it  [/r]

Has this ad wound up any other girls here?

And boys if any of you dare ask if I'm having my period at the moment, the answer is no if I was... I'd of fired a gun at the tv the moment I saw it:P

Have a happy period? Wow, I'm an insensitive bloke and even I think that's taking the piss.

That said, I'm legging it out of here. :blackeye:

The advertisers do seem to be going totally OTT when it comes to 'feminine hygene products' and associated items for the 'imtimate feminine area'.

Canesten combi and feminax seem to be on a lot of ad breaks at the mo.

"Have a happy period", I'd want to be in full riot gear before even THINKING of saying that. To quote Chris Rock from 'Dogma', "I'll rip your sack off like a paper towel!".

*Steps into thread whistling carelessly*

*Looks round, stops whistling, backs out very quietly and carefully*

*Knocks over comedy pile of books and runs away terrified*

Have a happy period? WTF? I'm a bloke and I know that would not bode well. Even though I only discovered the existence of the ad via this rant.

Imagine the meeting for that.
"How about: Have a happy period." says a bloke.
"You're a genius, James!" says his boss.
"You're a c**t, James!" says his boss' female secretary.

Why am I still here?

Maybe they're in partnership with tv shops. And by showing that ad women would have the same reaction you said you could've had.

Or did you chcek for sarcasm tags on it?

To be honest I'm pretty sure advertising executives have no idea how humans actually live being, as they are, hideous mutants who exist solely on money. And virgin's tears probably.

As well as the hideous notion that women should have a happy period, anyone recall the horrific advert where a group of attractive ladies sit around in a restaurant and quite openly and happily talk about how constipated they are? Call me old fashioned but surely the last thing you want to hear when you're having a nice, quiet meal with friends is how backed up their colon is?

"I'll have the spaghetti bolognese please. Oh, and by the way I haven't shat in weeks! So, how's your mother?"

THIS IS NOT HOW THE WORLD WORKS! Unless, of course, I've got it completely wrong, I'm completely naive and all women actually skip and dance at the prospect of shedding their uterine wall and then proceed to tell all their friends at dinner about how much trouble they have parking their breakfast.

And if that is the case then may God have mercy on our despicable souls.

Most adverts are just inane ramblings. You watch something where a flower dies and a lance is driven into the soul of the moon, and then at the end you get a message to buy beer, and to drink responsibly of course. :puke:

The world of marketing is a sordid, sterile place where no life can go. Anyone who has read Dilbert knows that. The virgins tears is no doubt true as well.

Just to provoke the beast, upon this female rant I want to mention that today I watched my favourite episode of Futurama. The one where they land on the world of giant women. If you're a man and you don't find that one hilarious, you're very warped.

"What did the last men who came here die of?"
"Crushed pelvises."
"Yes!"
"Thank you sweet Lord in Heaven."
