Oh good, it's getting mired in controversy already.

Saw that. So whatever about not casting an Asian actress to play the main character, they couldn't even cast an Asian for a background character?

I do find it funny how the people whining about how Motoko should be played by 'an Asian' (surely that should be 'Japanese') are mostly cosplayers who happily spend their lives involved in cultural appropriation.... :el:

That might come from the fan side but the issue seems more about the old white guys in charge of Hollywood who refuse to join the 21st century.

More ramblings on shady casting for GitS.

Also why the hell are they doing Laughing Man, jeez talk about choosing the hardest plot to make into a film or most likely to get bastardised. :D

There is so much hype that they need BIG names to sell this movie. Cos the nerds like us will probably not go see it at the cinema and they needs the 'ohh, I remember something called that' people to go see it and make the $$ for them.

Those models look so much like the pleasure dolls from GiTS: Innocence. I'm intrigued to see how this film turns out (No doubt a visual work of art :safesex: ) but the story will be Hollywood arse.

I do wish the people moaning about whitewashing would just STFU! The first anime was set in Hong Kong, it wasn't even in Japan! :el:

Have you seen it yet?

They hit some things spot on.

Beautiful looking and slightly emotionally uninvolving :D. Even the Hollywoodised plot isn't terrible. Bloody basset hound too. Not a bad effort, some of the shots are similar or the same as the anime.

I think it is worth seeing on a cinema sized screen if possible, there's so much detail.
