A very quick rundown of the oct 2010 London expo.

Image

Anime Industry panel, Jerome from Manga busily re-writing his notes as he forgot them :)

Big things of note:
* Andrew is leaving Beez for Kaze media europe, he will be doing a very similar job but not working as a distro any more.
* Manga have licensed the Haruhi movie along with the second series, Beez turned it down. The second series should come with the Haruhi-chan and Nyoron shorts, series and film will be dubbed, the shorts will be sub only which is a first for Manga. (although this is causing much nerd rage as some are getting uppity about not wanting to buy series 2 just so they can get the shorts... diddums!)
*Manga also have K-On, Birdy: The Mighty - Decoder and Hetalia second series
* Beez have picked up The tatami Galaxy and The House of the five leaves
* MVM have licensed The tower of Druaga and have renewed several old licenses
* MVM and Manga are doing more live action releases, they sell well so helps keep the $$ rolling in
* More companies are geared up to press BDs so the minimum order has gone from 3000 to 1000, we should be seeing more movies and shorter series on BD in the future. Manga will be working with Funi to get more BD releases out.
* Manga will be releasing a double pack next year with the girl who leapt through time and summer wars, the BD of TGWLTT will be a pretty bare release as the Japanese have requested no extras. They are worried of reverse inports due to the Japanese release being a total ripoff.

Peter F Hamilton, British Sci-Fi writer. He's just released his latest book so he was there to promote it and to do some signings.

One guy showed up with all 3 void books!

John DeLancie, better known as Q :)

Yes, very sad...

Not anime related, Simon's cat, Meow! :)

3pm and people are still coming out of the ticket hall.

The comic book alliance. OK it was on at 4pm but seriously people this is important. If you whine and moan about how awful the new porn laws are you should have been there as THESE people are the ones who could help you out.

Can't remember the first 3 people but the last two on the right are Helen McCarthy and Garen Ewing. Following on from my article about the BBFC I asked them about their view on the legality of certain graphic novels. Quite interestingly their legal guy has already talked to the CPS about Alan Moore's Lost Girls and has been told that (for that title at least) they will not be taking any action now or in the future regarding its potentially questionable content. This still doesn't help hentai doujin lovers, their advice is to keep your head down.

Some of those sets were rather $$. The pickings were rather slim in terms of new titles.
