I haven't been able to confirm this on CR yet but according to ANN.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2009-02-24/crunchyroll-to-particpate-in-global-shinkai-day

On the 28/2/09, CR will be joining in with the day by having 5cm, Voice and Place Promise available for streaming for 24 hours. Taken that they are all ADV properties in the US who knows if they'll be globally available, but we can hope.

Cynic.

Why do you think I was so cautious? 8)

5 Centimeters Per Second is no longer a ADV title so there is some hope at least.

I'm feeling a little more optimistic now.

That's right! You can watch these awesome animes for FREE and in 480p! No matter who you are, wherever you are!

The only problem with 480p is it'll take ages to buffer on my connection 8)

Shame it doesn't say Whenever...what about the time travelling fans? Well, they're screwed aren't they as they're only up for one day....

Then again, they could just travel to the 28th.....

Anyway, this sounds a mighteh interesting

 That would be 24 hours, therefore we get it earlier than they do, unless they get up at 12:01 and start watching.

For the really keen, you can start your MS day at 1:00 tonight. I think I may well wait until tomorrow morning myself. Avoid server congestion then hopefully.

Somebody needs to give MS a happy pill. 5cm is beautiful and depressing.

I caught 5cm/s today. It was amazing. Especially since I'd been put off anime movies from Mononoke and Sin (to name a few).

The dub was great, although lack of sign subs meant you had to "guess" what was going on. The animation quality was O.O . So much detail and stunning lighting effects really helped make an impact on the viewer.

Prime Bbcode Spoiler Show Prime Bbcode Spoiler: Ending
I especially loved the ending how it blasted through all the gaps with just short clips. This was really effective in filling in any details that the short stories didn't have time to go in to. (In fact, going in to details probably would have been boring, so the short clips were great). I think it was a "sad" ending, unless I misread something, but it was still great. Really powerful, and definitely worth rewatching sometime.

Also the stream quality was amazing. 480p with no load time, ripping or stuttering. I basically pressed play and it worked. Plus there was other users on my network using the bandwidth, so that's even more impressive (2Mb/s connection here).

MS, can't draw faces that's for sure! In Voice, he should have spent more time on the faces and less on the mechs. 8)

I enjoyed it more this time round, but it's still full of massive relativistic holes.

Watched them all. My favourite out of the three has to be 5 Centimeters per Second...that one just felt so close to me for some reason

They really need to digit-extract and get 5cm licensed and released. :el:
