NHK is a Sojitz title, meaning it's currently in licensing limbo.

In the UK?

I know it'll be up and running with Funimation in the US around the end of December.

Yeah, in the UK.

Funimation now own the US rights (Sojitz have fully transfered them) but the status of the UK rights is still uncertain. From what I'm told there is some movement with them, but I've also heard conflicting reports over where they might be headed. ADV/Lace want to release them, but I've also heard things about Manga maybe wanting some too. All I can say is "Watch this space".

Sorry for the "when is such and such coming out" post, but I was wondering if there is any news on a R2 release of Code Geass (as in Region 2). I was hoping it would come along with Gurren Lagann, but that's obviously not happened. :(

It is currently unlicenced in the UK, but it wouldn't be unthinkable to believe that Beez are looking at it. Andrew mentioned that he was currently in negotiations for several titles, but being negotiations he can't talk about which ones. They might be part of Namco Bandai Holdings, but just because Bandai Entertainment USA get a series, doesn't automatically confirm that Beez will get it. The fact that Code Geass is a Sunrise series is highly in its favour, and it's a popular series so I'd expect it announced in the early part of 2009. I can't say when, because the next big anime event is not until May, and I'd expect it announced before then.

and to avoid confusion of DVD regions, I often use the terms R1, R2E and R2J for them. (Region 2 encompasses both Japan and Europe, so technically all anime gets a region 2 release :P )

Normally I'd be completely up front about supporting the UK marketplace, but when volume six is released thirteen months after volume five I draw the line.

Try this.

Balls to that man. I don't have a multi region player and there's no way am diggin' in me pocket and forking out for one to buy and watch volume 6.

When it comes to me dishing out cash, I can wait then.
