Ghost in the Shell Innocence BluRay

Ahh... been waiting for this for a while!

Right, yet again I'll ignore the story, its typical Oshii going off on one and is full of random quotes and other philosophical claptrap.

The original was a visual spectacular, about the only thing really going for the movie if you ask some people ;) It looked good in PAL but the HD version makes it look even better.

Some of the scenes are just WOW. The scene in the shop looks amazing, you can read the package names on the shelves. The background details are just amazing. Its one of the few overly CG'd anime I like and it has transferred well to the new resolution. Its a far better use of HD than GitS 2.0. There is none of the frame jitter you see on GitS 2.0 which is nice.

The new dub seems no different from the original Manga UK dub. Still unsure why they had to re-dub it. Never mind! DTS-MA lossless audio has also helped.

If you like Oshii films and can cope with the endless mind bending dialogue then get this BD.

Looks very pretty. But still quoting Descartes, Milton etc..

There is a story in there, somewhere!

Now you're pulling my leg. It's like Oshii took a pair of scissors to the first chapter of the manga before gluing in swathes of photocopied Descartes texts.

I bet the carnival sequence looks bloody spectacular on BD though.

I think the story is about what makes humans human or how we try to make non-human things human or something like that, I dunno. Its a bit like Dune (the books, not the film) where the writer is just going "I'm much smarter than you, you can't understand this!!".

And yes, it was. Which is basically the only reason I watch the film.
