The Cat Returns

#1 Post by Tenshi » Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:29 am

The Cat Returns is a basic 'coming of age' story in which a young girl called Haru saves the life of a cat who is almost hit by a truck. After this she realises she has the ability to talk to cats and her mother tells her she told her she could when she was a little girl.

Turns out that she saved the prince of the cat kingdom and in return the king of cats invites her to the cat kingdom to marry the prince. Naru obviously does not want to marry the prince but she is a girl who does her best to please others and this causes her to almost marry the prince, to do so she must turn into a cat. The only way for her to stay human is to 'discover who she is' and return to the human world before dawn.

It's a sweet story with some funny moments. It would be a great movie to bring if you were babysitting as children would love it but it has some imagination to not bore an adult to death.

It made me smile anyway. So 3/5 popcorns. :pop: :pop: :pop:
Why yes, I am bored. How could you tell?

Was good watching Whisper of the Heart after seeing The Cat Returns and seeing characters like The Baron and Muta

I enjoyed it, not laden with heavy environmental messages and quite short too.

Cats FTW :D

My friend Z and I couldn't decide whether Whispers and Returns were feature and sequel respectively. So are they linked?

Well according to wiki(which we all know is 100% right) Returns came about after fans of Whispers demanded seeing more of the fantasy scenes from Whispers. So they decided to make the book written in Whispers into an animation. But from what I can tell, the story changed somewhere along the way.

NOOOO!!!

*bangs head on desk*

I once caught the end of a docu-film on his life. Quite a crap film and they really skirted around the actual details of his death.
