On a slightly different topic, possibly the favourite of my Parent's cars.

Image

A Fiat 131 Supermirafiori, rear wheel drive and I think it was a 1.6 DOHC engine in metallic (and rust) green.

Sadly it's long gone to the scrap heap in the sky. I would show you the front but I'll have to find a film scanner first.

EDIT: Cool wheels and the widest tyres I had ever seen on a car back then. :)

Not particularly we usually had Peugeots up until then. Fiats rusted too much.

And Pugs don't rust? ;)

A friend of a friend brought a cylinder head around today. He tried to change the cambelt on a saxo but didn't mark anything before removing the belt. Put the new one on, turned the engine by hand and it locked solid. So he moved the cam on 1 tooth, tried again and said 'it went stiff but freed up again so I thought it was fine'. Started the car, 'tink tink tink tink tink' and running like a bag of spanners. 4 pistons with signs of valve contact and 4 potentially bent inlet valves. :el:

Bodywork corrosion, damaged axle & wishbone bushes on both sides of the rear suspension, rear wheel bearings were found unacceptably worn.

New car get! Bye bye monies.

Image

It's blue, has 4 wheels, a gearbox with 5 options for going forward and 1 for going backward, lights, and window wipers. Oh and a handbrake, don't want it rolling down any hills now!

Now I can run the gauntlet into work every day and add to the congestion in Edinburgh. Just doing my bit.

Yeah, back working on imaging sensors for now. While my role isn't not strictly electronics or embedded systems at the moment there's still plenty of exposure to these elements. Plus embedded work I can do in my own time (dunno if I posted the lighting system I made for my growing figure collection?). I'll still gain technical experience, but hopefully I'll also gain experience in other areas to make myself more employable. For now I'm the script runner, copy/paster xD.

Cool beans! I made an RGB controller for a friends car many moons ago using a PIC16F84. With 3 buttons you could select any colour or put it into a couple of colour cycle modes. They still can't do a good yellow though.

The difference is in 8 or so years its gone from needing a 4MHz 8 bit MCU with 1k of flash and 3 buttons to 96MHz 32biit MCU with 512k of flash and a PC ;)
