Batman always has to win?

I don't get it, speaking from the standpoint of geek who's never had that particular discussion and is not a great follower of comics.

Good always has to win. Stories always have to go against real life.

In what context are we talking? Like is there any particular instance?

Nerd argument context.

Such as Batman v Superman. To me, it's obvious Superman would win.

The cartoon does depict the attitude that I don't understand. :)

Ah but all batman needs is a bit of kryptonite. I know I saw a strip somewhere of superman killing batman by punching a hole through him but I can't find it now.

Sure Bats was beaten, just he keeps bouncing back. He was badly beaten, back broken I believe, at the hands of Bane in the Knightfall storyline.

[Reveal] Spoiler: Current and future storyline
And currently Dick Grayson is Batman due to Darkseid "killing" Bruce(as Batman). Though like Captain America's death and return, he's set to come back this year sometime.

:geek:

Edit:Found it

He doesnt always win. He couldn't save Jason Todd from being murdered by the Joker/DC readership.

Yeah that would be the case it's just that the thing is with Batman, is that he would be prepared for that eventuality. Hence like CT said, he would already have the kryptonite ready in case Superman ever decided to fight him. Batman just has the smarts to force Superman to fight on his own terms. He knows nearly everyone's weakness' (including the heros, just in case).
Also when Batman does get beaten or fooled, he just refuses to give up and wins in the end.

Plus DC would be bloody crazy if they every killed off Batman for reals. Not that death means anything in most comics anyway.

Think you have to take into account that Batman is borderline psychotic. The other heroes tend to be dogooders.
Take that, his intelligence and the fact that, never relying on powers, he doesn't lack if his weakness is found out - like the others - then it makes more sense.

Plus he's just damn cool!

Funnily enough, I'm reading the Dark Knight Returns right now. Very glad to say it's as good as I've heard. Not reached that particular showdown yet.

This.

Although I have to say that Miller does amp up the psychotic part.
The Dark Knight Returns is good for that but you should check out Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum. Bruce has got some issues.

Still haven't read the current series yet, waiting impatiently on the trades. :(
