Do not grab random DC power lead on your desk and plug it into a USB hub. Chances are its 12v, not 5v, and will let the smoke out! :el:

I'm sure I would be, if I watched any of it. I'm not exactly politically engaged.

I'll be voting against UKIP, pure and simple.

I'm so glad it's only a month of bullshit, instead the year long storm that the US has to put up with.

How's the Gay vote going?

Yeah those Yanks really know how to drag the whole thing out.

I'm kind getting sick of the whole debate to be honest. It's been dragging on for months but the votes not until the 22nd. So it'll only get worse 'til the moratorium kicks in.

I just want to vote Yes for it (and for lowering the Presidential age limit) & be done with it.

That sounds nice, you get to have a quiet time before the vote.

You reckon if Ireland votes yes, that'll get NI to stop faffing or make them dig in? Peer pressure and all that.

Honestly man I don't know. The likes of the DUP are hardly likely to change their stance 'cause of what's happening down here. And there's the religious right. I honestly don't have a clue how strong their various pressure groups (like the Iona Institute or whatever) are in the North, as compared to down here. I'd say their stronger up there but that's just a guess.

TLDR: Fuck if I know.

Hmm.. what will all the TV channels do now that the election is over?

I see the loony lefties are already whining about needing PR, but they forget that UKIP came 3rd as a total % of votes and that PR would have resulted in more UKIP MPs than SNP, Green and LibDem put together.

Same old shit, terror, death and politics. Anything to raise the ratings and scare the old biddies.

The young have forgotten (or never knew) what it's like, one side gets voted in a couple of times until we really hate them, then we swap and learn to hate the other side. Rinse repeat. AV would have been better, but yeah we dodged a bullet this time, hopefully a series of nutters in charge of UKIP will weaken them until they're nothing but a nasty memory.

Shame the same can't be said for the SNP :) What we need is a party to stand up for the English, maybe some kind of national party like the Scottish have but for us English

Yawn! Kiddies think they have it oh so hard these days.

Maybe they'd like a return to that?

The joys of being in a democracy is that people are allowed to express their displeasure. The police are also allowed to arrest them if they get too excited whilst doing it.

Different Labour, that was back when they were genuinely socialist instead of centre right or at best centre left. Taken I can't even remember it, dunno how you get away with referencing it. :D

The socialist workers party wants a return to that sort of Labour.

The SWP always want Labour to go further left, it's their sole aim in life. 8)

I can heartily recommend the Centre for Computing History if you're ever Cambridge way. Got my 70s, 80s and 90s nerd well and truly on!

I learnt to use assembler and hand enter machine code on that bad boy. Got really lucky, met a keen volunteer and got to wonder round their prep shop, oh the antique nerdery. ^_____^

Well you can never accuse Project of being a shy tory.

Not necessarily, if ye used STV PR system like we have over here, the more "likeable" (whatever that might be) smaller parties would find it easier to gets votes than someone from a more polarising party from say the BMP, UKIP or the Communists or whatever.

Yeah, but it's not like he's ever hidden his slightly foaming out the mouth right wing views. :D

We had a referendum on AV a few years back but the Tories hated the idea so trashed it publicly and the supporters were crap at explaining/supporting it, so it didn't even get close to the number of votes it needed.

CGP Grey did a great series of videos explain why FPP is broken and how the alternatives works (or not):
