I find the Megaupload timing interesting. People trying to bring in legislation in relation to copyright infringement causing a shitstorm and then proving that they already have appropriate legislation.

Funny innit :)

Anon are pissed. Nothing new though. "wah wah we want freedumb of speech so we're going to deny people theirs". They are all just different flavors of the same thing.

The admin of another forum I frequent (not anime related) was banging on about how evil SOPA is and how freedom of speech is so important. Then he goes and closes a thread where someone asked about news feeds. :el:

Freedom of speech usually only applies to "my speech". :D

You learn something pointless every day, copyright is in the US constitution. Article 1, section 8, clause 8.

So much for SOPA being unconstitutional! ;) They really tie themselves into knots over there.

The whole republical vs democrat fight in the USA makes for some interesting reading. Some republican spouting that net neutrality is evil and the big corps are just fine controlling the internet. All cos it was the democrats putting forward net neutrality ;)

There seem to be people who are perfectly happy to have big business control their internet content... its odd. One post likened it to UPS refusing to ship certain goods to your door. The difference is the road to your door isn't owned by UPS for its exclusive use so you just call FedEx and get them to use it. You can't have 2 internet connections down the same wire :)

Talking of such things... I pay for sky TV but because I don't have sky broadband I can't get sky on demand. And its free, if you have sky broadband. Not that I want it... And not really net neutrality as its Sky's own content on their network. Its not like they are blocking iplayer or 4od.

I think the Sky thing is that initially they were being careful during the rollout so that they could figure out at what point it was broken, if it broke. Whereas now they're probably just being cheap, save them having to pay for the bandwidth consumption on other networks.

I think if they managed to block all streaming of copy righted material it would hinder people buying some of them later on in some cases.

Like for anime when I could view Funimations channals, and find shows on chrunchyroll that I liked I bought a lot more series. Though some dub haters hate too much that they think not buying the shows are a good idea.

I find SOPA a bit confusing on what it's actually for cause I've always thought some thing like it has always been there though I don't really know any thing.. :cat: I'm just a dumb cat. I can't tell if the stuff about the companies who are supporting SOPA are true or just fabricated like how they gave away distributing software and showed people to use it for copy righted materials.

Anybody watching the Funkjunk V The Oatmeal shitstorm?

I think FJ's lawyer stepped into a world of hurt that he didn't understand.

Not looked for a couple of days. The oatmeal guy didn't help himself after being a bit of a dick. But the fj lawyer lives on another planet.
